How Lars will serve the City
If elected, I will support the Lord Mayor and the Livery with international experience, business expertise and City engagement. Discover more about how I will do this:
Business Experience
I have over 30 years’ commercial experience working in the City, technology and financial services. I am the Founder and CEO of a Queen’s Award-winning company with customers in 148 countries.
If elected, I will support the Lord Mayor in promoting the City at home and overseas. This is based on significant leadership experience, as I:
- Founded My Nametags over 22 years ago, a global market leader in name labels
- Worked in corporate finance for technology companies and insurance
- Has held Non-Executive Director roles for a credit union (also Supervisory Board), the largest further education provider in London and others
Civic Engagement
I support and connect liverymen across livery companies with many years of civic engagement. My interpersonal and management skills have led to being a master of both the Entrepreneurs and World Traders livery companies.
If elected, I will continue my civic engagement. I will support young people with business and entrepreneurial skills in their journey into work. I am:
- Past Master of the World Traders and Entrepreneurs
- Chair of two Past Masters’ Associations
- A Court Assistant of the Guild of Freemen
- A member of the Management Committee of the LPMA (Association of Past Master Associations)
- A Council Member of the Order of St George
- A member of the Management Committee of Broad Street Ward Club
- A Freeman of Stationers’ Company
- Known for supporting seven Sheriffs as Election Agent/Chain Appeal Secretary
International Expertise
In these fast-moving times, I have significant international business expertise. My company sells to 148 countries and has gained the Queen’s Award for International Trade.
My international pedigree is supported by qualifications from British, French and German universities, as well as speaking 7 languages. If elected, I will:
- Use my unique international experience to support the Lord Mayor in London and overseas
- Act as an international ambassador and address overseas delegations in their language
- Highlight London’s multicultural environment to demonstrate the opportunities for foreign investment
- Continue to support education and interview MSc/BSc candidates for French universities
Charity Engagement
I give back to the community and actively support wide-ranging charities, raising funds and engaging with third-sector boards.
If elected, I will continue his committment to charitable works. For example, I:
- am an active Governor/non-executive Director and Audit Committee member of the not-for-profit Capital City College, the largest further education group in London, with 36,000 students
- Helped to organise City fundraising events for Treloar’s, the Sheriffs’ Ball, Grand Finale and Wentworth Woodhouse
- Personally raised funds by abseiling down the Lloyd’s building
- Have chaired a housing learning disability charity with 350 staff
- Was founder of a credit union, currently part of Boom Community Bank
Justice and Law
I have a passion for the judiciary system, in particular reducing knife crime for young people and prisoner rehabilitation. For example, I helped organise the Justice for All law lectures at the Old Bailey.
If elected, I will:
- Use the office of Sheriff to support young people to avoid offending, particularly knife crime
- Raise awareness of the different approaches to prisoner rehabilitation, such as the successful Norwegian system
- Support and raise awareness for the Sheriffs’ and Recorder’s Fund
- Show young people alternatives to crime, participating in education initiatives
Armed Forces
I signed the Armed Forces Covenant on behalf of the World Traders and helped establish military affiliations for the Entrepreneurs, and I have also served in the Norwegian Armed Forces.
If elected, I will:
- Enable the shrieval office to support the armed forces
- Support livery links with cadets and promote the benefit for young people of participating in a cadet force
- Explore how to support people transitioning from the military to the private sector
- Support ex-service personnel with business and entrepreneurial guidance
